Sayos Shining Sun, the talented son of Shining Spark began his
show career in Open Reining July 1999 as a three year old. In the next
four months he had five wins with three 2nd’s, a 3rd place finish in
nine shows, as he blew through the competition. He ended the 4th month
placing 15th as a NRHA Futurity Finalist, besting 400 other entrants.
During this stretch he earned $25,800.00 (Sayos performed in 22 NRHA
Shows and won money 21 times). His NRHA Career culminated as a USET
Finalist in 2003. After his successful three year old year, Sayos
competed primarily in AQHA Reining Events. By the time Sayos was retired
to stud at age seven, he had competed in 41 AQHA Shows.
After over three years in retirement at age ten, and clearly still
competitive, Sayos was brought back to the show ring in 2006. He needed
only 10 shows to achieve three wins, three 2nds and two 3rds. He ended
the year with 5th Place in the prestigious FEI World Finals in Denver
where teams of top riders from 20 countries participated. SAYOS WAS
BACK!
 In 2007 at age eleven, Sayos is big, strong and in perfect health. He is
at Al Dunning Training Stable in Scottsdale, Arizona being trained and
ridden by Brad
Barkemeyer. Sayos has qualified for the 2007 AQHA World Show in
November where Brad will show him in Senior Open Reining. This will be
Sayos last Reining Show. To date, he has competed in 53 AQHA Reining
Events, has his Superior and has finished in the top three 45 percent of
the time with 11 wins. He currently has 68 ½ Reining Points.
With his new owners and expert guidance from his trainer, Sayos will
begin a new career in the Working Cow Horse events at the end of 2007.
If Sayos is true to form, those cows are in trouble.
